01 / Overview
Circularity Lab lets a company assess a product, or the company itself, against a circular economy framework: seven core areas plus a sector-specific module, with evidence for every answer. The result is a weighted score out of 100, a badge, a report with the biggest weaknesses first, and the option of a certification reviewed by CSE's experts.
02 / The challenge
There is no universal standard for circularity. The framework had to be rigorous enough to certify against, work across nine very different sectors, and never penalise a company for questions that do not apply to it. And a paid self-assessment and an expert certification had to live in one product without doubling the work.
03 / What we built
Fair, configurable scoring
Every answer is Fully, Partially, Not yet or Not applicable, with evidence text and files. Sections carry equal weight, N/A answers with a stated reason are excluded from both sides of the calculation, and three badge levels (Commitment, Achievement, Leadership) mark the result. The whole framework is defined in configuration, so a new assessment is a data change, not a rebuild.
Two assessments, nine sectors
Product Circularity (seven areas plus a module for textiles, electronics, food, automotive, construction, packaging, furniture, chemicals or energy) and Corporate Circularity for the company as a whole. Colleagues in the same company share company-level answers, so nobody types the same thing twice.
AI on materials and packaging
For each material and packaging item the model returns whether it is recyclable, a recyclability level and a carbon footprint range in kg CO2e, grounded in life-cycle reference values and clamped to plausible limits. Results are cached with the assessment, so the analysis costs once.
Self-assessment and certification in one flow
Instant self-assessment and expert-reviewed certification share the same questionnaire, scoring and PDF report. Payment by card or bank transfer with receipt verification, discount coupons, an optional circular economy course with voucher, and an API so CSE's sales site can sell assessments directly.
04 / Results
CSE delivers assessments at scale without a bespoke consulting project for each client: companies get a score, a badge and a report in one session, certification candidates go to an expert review queue, and new frameworks or sectors are added without touching the code.
